The Types of Design We Offer

Colour & Design Consulting

A colour and design consultation can be as simple as selecting a paint colour or fabric for one area of your home, and as complex as advising you on the coordination of fabrics, furniture, fixtures, paint, artwork and accessories for every room. Our advice will leave you feeling confident that your material choices will not only look fantastic but look fantastic together.

Organizing your space can involve more than simply providing storage solutions; when we consider spatial organization we look at things like the scale and the arrangement of your furniture and artwork, the placement of your accessories, how to maximize the use of available light, and whether or not there is adequate space for areas of heavy traffic. As Bernard Leupen wrote in his book Design and Analysis, “Every design is based on order; the need to order is prompted more than anything else by our general desire to arrange the world so as to make it easier to understand.”

Proper lighting in a space is very important and so often overlooked. Whether it is ambient, decorative, outdoor, task, accent or safety lighting, we design lighting plans that meet your needs and we provide you with the drawings that are required for proper installation. A well designed home has adequate storage that coordinates with your new and/or existing décor. We can help you plan for your storage needs and design the cabinetry to hide or display it. We can also assist you with the design of moldings, and unique pieces of woodwork like kitchen islands and under stair storage areas.

In general, the term “soft furnishings” refers to decorative items made out of textiles, like pillows, drapery, and linens. Our design services include: sourcing and coordinating fabrics for any of your soft furnishing needs; arranging for the sewing of custom work; designing and selecting window treatments that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and that work with your décor; and choosing fabrics for reupholstering projects.
